How to Check iPhone IMEI in Ghana Before Buying
The IMEI is not a magic guarantee, but it helps you catch stolen, blacklisted, mismatched, or motherboard-swapped phones before payment.
1. Dial *#06#
Open the phone dialer and enter *#06#. Write down or screenshot the IMEI shown on screen. Do this yourself instead of accepting a screenshot from the seller.
2. Compare With Settings
Go to Settings > General > About and compare the IMEI there with the dialer result. If the numbers do not match, stop and ask why.
3. Compare With SIM Tray or Back Housing
Some iPhone models show IMEI on the SIM tray or housing. A mismatch can mean the tray or housing was swapped. That does not always prove theft, but it increases risk.
4. Search Blacklist Status
Use a reputable IMEI checker to see whether the device is reported lost, stolen, or blacklisted. Free tools can be incomplete, so treat the result as one signal, not the only signal.
5. Match the Seller Story
Ask for the seller's original purchase story, receipt if available, and reason for selling. If the price is far below market and the seller refuses reset or SIM testing, walk away.
IMEI is only one part of the check
Also verify iCloud, carrier lock, Face ID, battery health, screen, camera, charging, and payment safety.
